DURANGO, Colo. -
Hannah Rather scored in the 97th minute for her fourth goal of the season off a rebound from
Agnes Arnadottir to lead No. 11 University of Colorado Colorado Springs (7-1 / 3-1 RMAC) to a 1-0 victory against No. 14 Fort Lewis (5-1-1 / 2-1-1 RMAC) today at Dirks Field.
The win was the first for UCCS against Fort Lewis in program history, and was the first loss for the Skyhawks this season. The victory also moves the Mountain Lions within one win of the season record of eight, set in each of the last two seasons.
The game featured the top two defenses in the conference, leading to the 0-0 tie after regulation. Neither offenses recorded shots until Arnadottirrecorded a shot in the 97th minute that was saved by Skyhawk goalkeeper Amanda Raso, but the rebound allowed Rather to scored the deciding goal for the win. The goal moved Rather into a tie with
Hannah Levett for the team lead in goals this season and fifth in the RMAC.
The Mountain Lions held the conference's top scorer to three shots and no shots on goal.
Kelly Schroeder stopped the two shots on goal by theSkyhawks while she earned career shutout No. 10. She now needs three more shutouts to enter the top nine records in RMAC history.
