COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Max Thomas' goal in the 38th minute and a tight University of Colorado Colorado Springs defense that only allowed one shot on goal was enough for the Mountain Lions (6-4 / 5-2 RMAC) to win their fifth straight game in a 1-0 decision against Colorado Christian (1-11 / 0-8 RMAC) tonight in Mountain Lion Stadium.

The victory marked the first five-game winning streak since the 2000 season and win No. 13 against the Cougars since 2005. The win also kept the Mountain Lions in second of the RMAC standings after the conclusion of tonight's games.

UCCS controlled the offense in the first half with the first four shots of the game, including two shots from Brandon Vongphackdy. Colorado Christian recorded its only shot on goal in the 19th minute against keeper Brandon Costa before the Mountain Lions continued their offensive attacks.

The Mountain Lions gained two corner kicks within a minute span in the 37th minute, with the second kick from Sebastian Hertzberg going to Austin Bell, who passed it to Thomas for the deciding goal early in the 38th minute. UCCS maintained the lead at halftime with a shot advantage of 12-2.

UCCS recorded two shots on goal early in the second period, but cold temperatures and mist, along with a persistent north wind, limited both offenses during the second half. Neither team attempted a corner kick during the period and the teams combined for five shots in the final 45 minutes.

RMAC Defensive Player of the Week Brandon Costa earned his third shutout in the last four games.
