UCCS remains undefeated at home with win on White Out Night

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's volleyball team beats Western New Mexico 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-14) on Thursday night. With the win, the Mountain Lions improve to 10-5/5-2 RMAC and remain undefeated at home this season with a record of 7-0.

The Mountain Lions were led in the first set by freshman Jordan Banich who recorded four of her team-high 12 kills of the match. UCCS started the first set on a 7-1 run, before the Mustangs made a run of their own. After calling a time out, the Mountain Lions then strung together 13 straight points, which was a swing that the Mustangs were unable to recover from.

The second set would prove to be much more competitive as UCCS would go on to win this set by just four points, in a set that saw seven ties and six lead changes. Kinzer led the Mountain Lion offense in the second set finishing with four of her 10 kills. Kinzer also finished with a game-high of nine block assists including one solo block. Kinzer is currently No. 1 at UCCS in block assists in the rally scoring era (since 2001), and No. 3 all-time in school history with 300. Kinzer needs just six more to move into No. 2 all-time.

The third set was also highly contested as the Mustangs would go on to with that set 25-23. Freshman Kim Catlett led the offense in the third set finishing with five of her seven total kills in the set. Catlett also finished the match with 13 digs.

The fourth set would see the Mountain Lions regain their momentum as they went on to win 25-14 in a set which saw just one lead. Megan Koophelped lead the Mountain Lions in this set as she added two of her seven kills in this set.

The Mountain Lion offense was co-anchored by freshman Grace Gordon who finished with a team-high of 21 assist while adding 10 digs, and senior Lindsey Stich who finished with 18 assists.

Up Next: UCCS will be back in action on Saturday night as they host New Mexico Highlands. The Mountain Lions have won the past seven meetings against the Cowboys dating back September 22, 2005.
