GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team rallied back from a two-goal deficit to force overtime but were beaten in the extra period by the Colorado Mesa Mavericks Sunday at Walker Field.

With just 1:44 remaining in the second overtime period, Tayler Franklin's pass deflected off UCCS goalkeeper Jessica Taylor and went to Jessica Kent who was five yards out. She easily converted for her first goal of the season.

It was the second time this season that the Mavericks have beaten UCCS in overtime. On Sept. 25, Kaitlynn Holt scored 3:59 into the first overtime to lift CMU to a 2-1 victory.

Overtime has proven to be a bane for the Mountain Lions this season. After winning their first extra period match (2-1 over Fort Hays State on Sept. 11), UCCS has gone 0-4-1 since.

With the win, the Mavericks improved to 8-6-4 and 7-3-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, good enough that they will host Metro State in a first-round RMAC playoff game on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions dropped to 8-9-1 and 4-9-1 in the RMAC.

Sending the match into overtime was an accomplishment in itself. Trailing 2-0, the Mountain Lions got a goal by Hannah Rather (assisted by Hannah Levett) in the 71st minute and an unassisted score by Agnes Arnadottir in the 77th minute.
