COLORADO SPRINGS- The Regis Rangers' front line was too much for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to overcome as the Mountain Lions fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17). The Rangers (11-6, 6-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) put up 10 blocks on the night while UCCS (10-7, 4-4 RMAC) only managed three and gave up four points on block errors.

UCCS posted a .286 hitting percentage compared to Regis' .279 clip in the first set. However, in the end the Rangers out hit the Mountain Lions .308 to .165.

 The two teams battled back and forth, trading points in set one but the Mountain Lions could never get a string of points together to develop any sort of substantial lead. "Sometimes the ball falls your way, and sometimes it doesn't." said Alex Nuttall. "It just didn't for us in that first set." Nuttall had one of her two aces and posted five of her nine kills in the set to lead UCCS out of the gate.

 When asked about the tough loss in set one, Nuttall contributed "It's tough, but for me personally, it makes me want to fight harder to win the second set."

 After the demoralizing loss in the first set, the Mountain Lions never could manufacture a lead in the second set. After three ties early on, Regis took over from 5-5 and never looked back, extending the lead to as many as eight before winning 25-18.

 The Mountain Lion's hitting percentage started to decline, in part, due to the tough front line of the Rangers. They started forcing UCCS to alter shots as they posted five of their 10 blocks in set two. This is also evident when looking at kills; UCCS had 17 in set one compared to a mere eight in the second.

 The Mountain Lions bounced back early in the third set having the lead four separate times up until 14-14. From there, Regis turned it on to finish out the match on an 11-3 run.

 Only Nikki Kinzer had more kills (11) than Nuttall on the evening while Jenica Shippy contributed eight for the Mountain Lions.

 Regis was firing all over the court as Kendall Utz led UCCS with 12 digs while Sonja Johnson added eight of her own. Nuttall and Cindy Bathelt also contributed seven each.

 "It was obvious from game one that they came out to play continued to play really well, and it felt like we weren't all there tonight." said Nuttall on the performance of the Rangers' front line.

 Christina Henzgen had a match high 16 kills for the Rangers while Jessica Howe and Erin Anderson each contributed seven. Devin Eckhardt led the way defensively for Regis as she was part of half of the teams blocks and posted 11 digs.
