KEARNEY, Neb. - Junior
Julia Saenz's two goals weren't enough as the Mountain Lions fall to the Nebraska Kearney Lopers 6-2.
It was Saenz' third straight game with a point and second straight game with a goal. She now has 5 goals and 7 assists on the season.
Unfortunately for UCCS, Saenz' first goal wasn't until Kearney already lead the game 3-0. Kearney was on top the whole game with their first goal coming just five minutes into the game. Kearney was up 6-1 with only eight minutes to play when Saenz scored again, this time on a penalty kick.
The Lopers had three different players score goals; Raliegh Mercer (2), Becka Talcott, and Talisha Krason. They also had two goals credited as team goals.
The Lopers and Mountain Lions had an equal number of shots (12) but the Kearney keepers recorded seven saves compared to just four for UCCS.
The loss drops the Mountain Lions to 6-4 as they look to redeem themselves by taking two out of three on their current road trip with games at Regis and CSU-Pueblo this week. UCCS returns home on October 15th when they host New Mexico Highlands.
