UCCS locks up playoff Berth with 4-2 win

Colorado Springs - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs locked up a spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference playoffs Friday evening, with a 4-2 victory over conference foe Nebraska-Kearney.

Junior, Kristin Preble scored two goals to lead the Mountain Lions to a playoff berth. They were Preble's seventh and eighth goals of the season. With the eighth goal, she passes Julia Saenz (7) for the team lead in goals this year.

The other Mountain Lions to get their name in the score book were Sara Palizzi and Candice Buckles. Palizzi scored the first UCCS goal in the seventeenth minute, it was her third of the season. Buckles knocked in the third goal which was her second this year.

Julia Saenz might have lost her lead in goals scored for the Mountain Lions, but she is in no danger of losing her lead in assists. She assisted Palizzi's goal to get her team leading total up to ten, the next highest number in assists is just four.

Jessica Escobedo had a game high two assists, including the eventual game winning third goal. Palizzi also had an assist to go along with her goal which brought her up to fourth on the team in points this season.

The Mountain Lions are looking to finish off the regular season on a high note on Sunday when they host Mesa State. The RMAC tournament starts on November 3rd.
