GRAND JUNCTION - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's soccer team was officially eliminated from playoff consideration after dropping a 1-0 decision to the Mesa State Mavericks Friday evening at Walker Field.
By improving to 4-6-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play (8-6-2 overall), Mesa State ensured its place in the six-team postseason playoff field.
UCCS dropped to 3-12-1 overall and 2-9-1 in the RMAC.
After a scoreless first half, the Mavericks got the matches' lone goal just 1:45 into the second period when Steve Shaw scored on a breakaway goal.
