PUEBLO - Josi Talbot had a goal and an assist as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 tie against the Colorado State-Pueblo Thunderwolves Wednesday afternoon at the Rawlings Soccer Complex.

The Mountain Lions came from behind twice, each time answering about three minutes after a CSU-Pueblo score.

Julia Saenz knocked in a Talbot rebound 2:20 after Gabby Gonzales gave CSU-Pueblo the lead at 11:56. It was Talbot that chased down a loose ball and scored to tie the match 3:10 after Katie Thiebaut's goal at 60:17.

The Mountain Lions outshot CSU-Pueblo 32-18, forcing Jessica Stumpf and Savannah Thompson to make two and 10 saves respectively for the Thunderwolves. UCCS goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder made nine saves.

The tie gave the Mountain Lions a 1-0-1 record against the Thunderwolves this season and the four points toward the Steel & Silver Series for women's soccer. That, combined with a loss later Wednesday by the UCCS men's soccer team, put the schools tied for the 2010-11 Steel & Silver Series at four points each. The Mountain Lions have also clinched at least two points for men's golf.

In each of the 10 intercollegiate athletics programs that both schools sponsor - men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's cross country, softball, volleyball, and women's indoor and outdoor track and field - the school that earns the most wins in head-to-head competition is awarded four points. If the head-to-head competitions are split evenly, each school is awarded two points. The school with the best cumulative grade point average among student-athletes in the school's common sports will also be awarded five points.

All four points for women's volleyball will be on the line when the schools meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Massari Arena.
