PUEBLO- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball team improved to 3-1 with a two-match sweep Saturday at the CSU-Pueblo Fall Classic at Massari Arena. The Mountain Lions defeated the Angelo State Rambelles 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 26-24) in the morning match, and then came back in the evening to beat the Dixie State Rebels 3-2 (30-28, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21).
UCCS was led by
Lauren Orth and
Sonja Johnson in the opener with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Senior setter
Jessica Stewart had 35 of her team's 48 assists.
Adrienne Taylor led Angelo State (1-2) with 10 kills.
Two freshmen,
Molly Crockett and
Karina Miastkowska, led the Mountain Lions in the evening match with 12 and 10 kills respectively.
Katie Luna led Dixie State (2-2) with 14 kills.
The Mountain Lions posted identical .146 hitting marks in each match. Libero
Kelsey Pobar had a match-high 24 digs in each contest.
