KEARNEY, Neb.- The season came to an end Saturday for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball team with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-14) loss to the No. 8-ranked Nebraska-Kearney Lopers at the Health and Sports Center.
Jessica Stewart had 18 assists in her final match as a Mountain Lion. The senior finished her career with 2,766 career assists, third best in UCCS history, and 802 digs, good for 10th on the school's career list.
Lauren Orth led UCCS (13-15, 8-11 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) with nine kills, while
Molly Crockett added seven kills and 10 digs.
Kelsey Pobar had a match-high 14 digs.
Nikki Scott led Nebraska-Kearney (31-2, 18-1 RMAC) with 16 kills.
The Lopers hit an astronomical .396, easily the highest mark allowed by the Mountain Lions this season. The previous best by a UCCS opponent was .346 by Nebraska-Kearney in the teams'first meeting on Sept. 12. The best by a team other than UNK was .325 by Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 26.
Nebraska-Kearney had just 10 hitting errors in the match, five of which came as the result of UCCS blocks. UCCS' Kim Boogaard assisted on all of the Mountain Lions' blocks.
