Winless streak grows to six

GOLDEN -Jeff Bettner scored the only goal for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs as the Mountain Lions fell 3-1 to the Colorado Mines Orediggers Friday evening at Long Lake Ranch Park.

This was the sixth game in a row without a win for the Mountain Lions (2-6-2, 0-4-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). This was also the sixth straight game that the Orediggers (4-4-2, 2-1-2 RMAC) have beaten UCCS since Sept. 11, 2005.

The first half was uneventful for both the teams as it remained scoreless until the second half.

Midway through the second half is when the game started to pickup. Colorado Mine's Ted Decker sent a pass into the box where it just so happened to find Cameron Brown in the scramble to put the Orediggers ahead 1-0.

Just 34 seconds later Mountain Lions' Greg Miley was able to send a corner kick pass to Jeff Bettner who was able to tie the game with 23:07 remaining in the game.

That tie would not last long one minute, 16 seconds later Colorado Mine's Brian Lacinksi scored the second goal off a mishandled ball by UCCS goalkeeper Adam Liszewski.

With four minutes left in the game Orediggers' Ted Decker was able to end the game with an unassisted goal 15 yards out.

Colorado Mines goalkeeper Zach Kimball (2-3-1) earned the win with four saves. Liszewski (2-6-2) had five saves to receive the loss.
