PUEBLO- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs tied the Steel & Silver Series Tuesday as the Mountain Lions volleyball team took a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-12) victory from the Colorado State-Pueblo Thunderwolves at Massari Arena.

The rivalry series now stands at six points each.

Lauren Orth led the Mountain Lions with 12 kills while also posting a solid .379 hitting mark. The sophomore from Falcon has led UCCS in kills in each of the past three matches. During that span, she has averaged 3.73 kills per set and hit .330.

Molly Crockett added 11 kills and 10 digs for UCCS (10-10, 5-6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). Kim Boogaard had nine kills and hit .500, while senior Jessica Stewart recorded 34 of the team's 38 assists.

Kelsey Pobar had a match-high 24 digs to lead a Mountain Lion defense that held CSU-Pueblo to a meager .057 hitting mark. Her digs mark was nearly half what the entire Thunderwolves team totaled.

Alea Wildman led CSU-Pueblo (3-16, 1-10 RMAC) with 10 kills.

CSU-Pueblo took the four Steel & Silver points available from women's soccer by sweeping the two-match head-to-head series. Each school got two points after the men's soccer teams split their two-match series. All four points for volleyball went to UCCS for Tuesday's match because it was the only scheduled competition between the schools in the sport.

Only four more points remain available for the fall sports. The schools'women's cross country teams will face each other at the RMAC Championship Oct. 25 and again at the Central Regional Championship on Nov. 8.

This season's Steel & Silver Series is on a new,"œwinner-take-all” points system. In each of the 10 intercollegiate athletics programs that both schools sponsor"" men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's cross country, softball, volleyball, and women's indoor and outdoor track and field"" the school that earns the most wins in head-to-head competition will be awarded four points. If the head-to-head competitions are split evenly, each school will be awarded two points. The school with the best cumulative grade point average among student-athletes in the school's common sports will also be awarded five points. The school with the most points at the end of the academic year will be awarded the Ent Federal Credit Union Trophy, with the presentation taking place in the home city of the winning school.
