Stephanie Laband and
Andrea Weedman had 12 kills each to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to a 3-1 (23-0, 30-22, 30-22, 30-20) win over the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers Friday evening at Golden, Colo.
The Mountain Lions (5-9, 2-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) took advantage of a balanced offense to keep the Orediggers guessing.
Brooke Akers added 11 kills, while
Caroline Ottino and
Jill Wrenn added 10 each.
UCCS also reduced the errors that have plagued them to this point. In the service game, the Mountain Lions had only three errors while scoring nine service aces. Coming into the match, UCCS had been averaging 9.7 service errors.
They also held up well against Mines' serve, having only two aces scored against them instead of the six they had averaged so far this season.
Setters
Cortney Weedman and
Jessica Stewart combined for 49 assists.
Amanda Rebol led the Orediggers (6-7, 2-2) with nine kills.
