Volleyball

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball team suffered its toughest loss of the season Wednesday night against the Colorado College Tigers. Colorado College beat the Mountain Lions in three-games (30-24, 30-26, 40-38).

Caroline Ottino had career-high 16 kills ito lead CU-Colorado Springs, but Mountain Lions were again plagued but unforced errors. CU-Colorado Springs committed 18 service errors during the match.

CU-Colorado Springs spent most of the first two games playing from behind. The Tigers took an early 7-6 lead that they never relinquished in Game 1 and led wire-to-wire in Game 2.

The Mountain Lions jumped out early in Game 3, grabbing a 13-9 lead on an Ottino kill. The Mountain pushed the lead to five points, 25-20 in the late stages of the game, before CC closed with a hard run to force overtime. The Mountain Lions had three chances in the overtime to put the game away and all three times service errors gave Colorado College a new chance. With the Tigers leading 39-38 a lift was called on the Mountain Lions to end the match.

Along with the game, the Mountain Lions also lost junior middle blocker Kelly Olson, who suffered a knee injury midway through Game 3.
