D'Alessandro leads Orediggers to overtime victory over CU-Colorado Springs

Nico D'Alessando was in the right place at the right time Friday night at 4 Diamonds Sports Complex in Colorado Springs. The Orediggers' senior forward beat Mountain Lion GK Mike Archuleta with a shot that came to him after a bounce off a CU-Colorado Springs defender, to lead Colorado Mines to a 2-1 win just 23 seconds into the first OT. The goal was D'Alessandro's second of the match, as he scored early in the second period to tie the game on a nice pass from Jared Peacock.

CU-Colorado Springs scored first with Russel Aamodt's unassisted goal 8:47 into the game.

The game was a very physical act at times. A total of 48 fouls and five cautions were accessed beetween the two teams. Several players also left the game with injuries from the rough play. Chris Keen of UCCS was forced out at the 83:24 mark after an attempted header went awry leaving Keen's head bleeding. Adam Ewig received a red card at the 87:23 mark of the game after he slipped on the wet grass, causing a nasty collision witih Oredigger GK O.J. Bullard.

The loss leaves CU-Colorado Springs 1-5-1 (1-4 RMAC) on the season. The win improves Colorado Mines record to 3-2 (2-1 RMAC).
