COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's soccer team used goals from
Tim Laxson,
Justin Behar and
Manuel Santana to defeat Regis University 3-1 Wednesday at 4-Diamonds Complex. The win moves the Mountain Lions (5-2, 3-2 RMAC) into sole possession of third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
Laxson opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the game, taking a pass from Sean Sprinkel and putting it past Regis goalie Heath Kidd. Sprinkel recorded his first career point with the assist. Behar followed with a goal in the 39th minute off a corner kick from
Jesse Day.
Lance Snodgrass notched the lone goal for Regis (3-5-1, 2-3 RMAC) in the 42nd minute, when a pass from Oliver Pertuit snuck past the Lion defense and left Snodgrass one-one-one with CU-Colorado Springs goalie
Mike Archuleta. Pertuit touched the ball past Archuleta to cut the Lion lead to 2-1.
Santana closed the scoring by connecting on a penalty kick in teh 79th minute.
James Bisgard was pulled down in the box, and Santana converted the PK into the lower left corner.
Archuleta made five saves, including two on point-blank shots by the Rangers, while Kidd made three saves for Regis.
