COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Metro State College men's soccer team defeated CU-Colorado Springs 2-1 today at 4-Diamond Complex to claim the fourth and final playoff spot in this weekend's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference post-season tournament.
Chris Thomas and Jonathan Gillie scored first half goals for the Roadrunners, who improved to 9-9 overall and 6-6 in the RMAC.
Adrian Marrero made the game interesting, scoring for the Mountain Lions in the 87th minute.
CU-Colorado Springs, 12-6-1 overall and 6-5-1 in the RMAC, had already secured a berth in the playoffs as the No. 3 seed and will battle No. 2 seed Fort LEwis College on Saturday, Nov 6 at the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, beginning at 1:30 p.m. USC, the RMAC's regular season champion, will face Metro State in the other semifinal. The final is at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
