COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Junior Niki Jerome recorded nine kills as Chadron State College defeated the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs 15-10, 15-7, 15-5 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's volleyball matchup Saturday at The Gold Pit.
After a hard-fought first game, Chadron stormed out of the blocks early in the final two games. The Lady Eagles reeled off the first 13 points in the game 2, then rolled to an 11-1 lead in the third game. CU-Colorado Springs tried to come back in both stanzas, but could not overcome the early deficits.
Sophomore
Michelle Cherrie led the Gold with five kills, while teammates
Melissa Botos and
Tara Henry added 11 digs apiece. CU-Colorado Springs fell to 3-15 overall this season and 1-6 in the RMAC.
Sophomores Amy Pickett and Jennifer Gellett each had six kills for the Lady Eagles, whose record improved to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Pickett also notched 15 digs, as did junior Toni Pelton. Junior Krystal Hazlitt tallied 29 assists for Chadron State.
