COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Scott Gardner and Chris Johnson notched goals as Metro State College defeated the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs 2-0 Friday in men's soccer action at 4-Diamond Complex.
Gardner took a cross from Mazen Kayali and headed it past CU-Colorado Springs goalie
Greg Meyer just 4:42 into the game, then Johnson converted a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to close out the scoring. Stephen Babby made fives saves for Metro State, now 6-10-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Gold,which falls to 8-6-3 overall and 2-4-3 in the RMAC, outshot the Roadrunners 14-10. Meyer, the top-ranked goalie in teh conference entering today's game, made four saves.
