Chris Rego

    Assistant Men's Cross Country Coach
Chris Rego joined the Mountain Lions staff in 2019.  He comes to UCCS with experience competing at the NCAA Division I and Division II level.

During his junior year of college, Rego walked on to the Florida State cross country and track teams. He competed for the Seminoles from 2009-2011, and went on to compete at the at the University of Tampa while receiving his Masters degree in Education. With the Spartans he earned All-Region honors and helped lead the team to their first conference title and the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
 
Rego began his coaching career by founding the School of Arts and Sciences first cross country/track program in Tallahassee, Fla. Since moving to Colorado, he has also built a brand new cross country program at Jenkins Middle school and led them to their first state championship meet. Most recently he has served as Head Girls Golf Coach at Palmer High School and helped qualify several girls to the state tournament.
 
Rego continues to compete in everything from the 1500m to Marathon. He is a two-time Boston Marathon competitor and was runner-up at the 2017 Fortitude 10k in Fort Collins. He and his wife, Amanda, both compete for the Colorado Springs Track Club.
