Hocking won the 2002 title with a score of 11 shots under par. He led the Mountain Lions to their first two national tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003 and to a pair of RMAC championships in 1999 and 2003. Hocking finished in the top 10 in eight tournaments during his senior season and averaged 72.47 in 26 rounds.
Hocking finished No. 13 at the 2003 national championships and was a part of the No. 10 team finish for the Mountain Lions. He placed No. 21 at the 2002 national meet as UCCS finished No. 16 in the team standings.
Hocking was one of two Mountain Lions to earn a spot on the RMAC All-Century Golf Team during the centennial celebrations in 2009.
