2005 (at Air Force): Earned the volleyball team's Unsung Hero Award ... played in all of the Falcons 111 games ... led the team with 330 kills, a .228 hitting percentage and 92 blocks. 2004 (at Air Force): Played in 72 games and was one of two freshmen to begin the season in the starting rotation ... started 19 matches, including the first 14 (prior to an injury) ... had a season-high night against Navy on Sept. 11th, posting 16 kills and seven assisted blocks ... hit a season-best .647 against Tulsa (Sept. 3), collecting 13 kills on 17 attempts, while committing just two errors; this percentage led the conference for two weeks ... ranked 10th on the program's Division I single-season list with 13 solo blocks and 43 assisted blocks ... named to the all-tournament team at the All-Armed Forces Tournament. In fact, prior to Friday's match, UCCS had only won four GAMES against Nebraska-Kearney. Akers came back Saturday to hit .583 and average 5.33 kills per game against Chadron State.
