COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (8-9 / 4-5 RMAC) defeats Western State (1-16 / 0-9 RMAC) tonight in straight sets (26-24, 25-13, 25-22).
The first set went back and forth the entire time with three lead changes and 10 tie scores. Neither team seemed to find their groove in the first set, but it was UCCS that gained momentum late to take game one by two points.

UCCS carried its momentum in into the second set as the team went on a 5-0 run to begin the game. The Mountain Lions remained in firm control the entire second set as there were no tie scores or lead changes.
Jordan Banich led the team in the second with four kills, zero attack errors, three service aces, and two digs. Banich finished the match with 10 kills, nine digs, and a match-high six block assists.
The third set was much like the first as the teams traded points the entire game. The third set saw four lead changes and 15 tie scores, but just like in the first set, it was UCCS that rallied late to get the win.
