LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (7-9 / 3-5 RMAC) falls to New Mexico Highlands University (8-10 / 2-5 RMAC) tonight 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21).

The Cowgirls started the match strong on their home court with a 10-5 run to begin the first set. UCCS pulled within one point late in the set, but was not able to complete the rally as the Mountain Lions fell 25-20.

The Mountain Lions scored the first two points of the second set, but that would be the largest lead they held in the set as the Cowgirls surged and went up by 11 points. UCCS mounted a comeback and closed out the set on a 9-3 run, but the third point for New Mexico Highlands was the final point needed to win the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set went back and forth with ten tie scores. The Mountain Lions and Cowgirls traded points until midway through the third with the score tied at 17 points apiece. New Mexico Highlands gained momentum again late though, and took the set 25-21 to close out the match 3-0.

UCCS was led in the match by Laura Loosbrock and Kristen Sciacca, who each had nine kills. Sciacca also finished with a match-high five block assists and two service aces.

Up Next: The Mountain Lions will be back in action next weekend for a three match home stand starting on Thursday against Western State (1-15 / 0-8 RMAC).
