Volleyball Alumni Invited Back to Campus Oct. 17-19
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The coaching staffs for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs soccer and volleyball teams invite alumni from those teams to return to campus to celebrate Alumni Weekend Oct. 17-19. The weekend features five home games for the three invited team.
Alumni are encouraged to RSVP at their earliest convenience to allow the respective coaching staffs to coordinate sport-specific events.
Volleyball will be at home for a three-match weekend on Oct. 17-19 with Western State, Adams State and Colorado State-Pueblo, respectively. The Mountain Lions have won their last 10 matches against Western State since 2004, and the last eight matches with CSU-Pueblo since 2006. UCCS is coming off an RMAC tournament appearance in 2012.
Women's soccer will host Western State in a 5 p.m. game on Oct. 18 at Mountain Lion Stadium, followed by a 7:30 p.m. men's game with Metro State. Both teams hosted an RMAC tournament game last season and the men advanced to the tournament semifinals for the first time since 2001. The home playoff game for the women was the first in the five-year history of the program.
UCCS finished sixth in the RMAC All-Sport Competition in 2012-13 to match its all-time best finish for the best overall athletic department in the conference. The Mountain Lions also finished the 2012-13 academic year by extending their streak to 18 consecutive semesters with a student-athlete grade point average above 3.00. UCCS also earned the NCAA Division II President's Award in 2012 with an Academic Success Rate above 90 percent.
