UCCS Hosts Final Home Matches of the Season This Weekend

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (10-13 / 6-9 RMAC) prepares for its final home matches of the season this weekend as the Mountain Lions host the Eagles of Chadron State (5-21 / 2-14 RMAC) on Friday night and the Yellow Jackets of Black Hills State ( 7-18 / 3-13 RMAC) on Saturday night.

UCCS leads the all-time series against Chadron State 20-9 and has won the previous 17 matches, dating back to 2004, including a 3-1 victory earlier this season.

Chadron State enters the weekend ranked fourth in the RMAC for digs per set (16.54), led by Alyssa Bauer who is 10th (3.77). The Eagles are led on offense by three players who each average more than two kills per set: Erika Roybal (2.18), Barbie DeCent (2.15), and Jessica Jester (2.02).

UCCS combats the defense with former RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, Heather Sanders, who is eight in the conference for digs per set (3.94). The Mountain Lions are led on offense by Jordan Banich, who leads the team in kills per set (2.81), and is first in the RMAC for service aces per set (.38).

The final home match of the season for UCCS will feature the top two blocking teams in the RMAC as Black Hills State is currently first for blocks per set (2.68), while UCCS is ranked second (2.23).

The Yellow Jackets have two of the top five players in the conference in the category of blocks per set: Holly Mamlin (1.23), who is first and Shelby Mayer (.94) who is tied for third with the Mountain Lions' own, Cassidy Bush. Kristen Sciacca is not far behind as she ranks sixth in the RMAC for blocks per set (.92), while also leading UCCS in hitting percent (.304).

Black Hills state is led on offense by Amy O'Neil, who is third in the conference for kills per set (3.81).

UCCS leads the all-time series 3-0 after sweeping the series last year and winning in straights sets earlier this season.
