UCCS Hosts Top RMAC Contenders This Weekend
COLORADO SPRI NGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (7-5 / 3-1 RMAC) hosts conference contenders Metro State (7-6 / 3-2 RMAC) and No. 23 Regis (8-6 / 4-1 RMAC) this weekend for a two match home-stand.
UCCS begins the weekend on Friday night against Metro State. These two teams match up evenly so far this season statistically. Metro State has a hitting percent .202, and has averaged 11.84 assists per set 12.34 kills per set; UCCS is right behind in each category with a hitting percent of .197, an average of 12.29 kills per set and 11.29 assists per set.
The Roadrunners are led on offense by Alysa Heath, who is seventh in the RMAC for kills per set (3.36) and on defense by Alex Green, who is seventh for digs per set (4.26).
The even match up continues as UCCS is led by Kristen Sciacca, who is first in the conference for hitting percent (4.05), and first for blocks per set (.96). The Mountain Lions are also led on defense by the reigning RMAC Defense Player of the Week, Heather Sanders, who is fourth for digs per set (4.51).
The home stand-stand concludes on Saturday night as UCCS hosts No. 23 ranked Regis. The Rangers have won four of their previous matches, including a win in straight sets against Metro State this past Tuesday. Regis also has signature wins this season against No. 11 West Texas A&M and No. 13 Sonoma State. Katie Klein leads the Ranger offense and is fourth in the RMAC for kills per set (3.84).
