Mountain Lions continue on the last road trip of the regular season
The UCCS volleyball team won the first of three road games this week as they defeated Colorado College 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10). The Mountain Lions will go back on the road to take on Chadron State and Black Hills State this weekend.
Freshman Amanda Bloom is coming off a season, and thus, career-high as she recorded 16 kills for 16.5 points. The reigning RMAC player of the month, and three time RMAC defensive player of the week, senior Nikki Kinzer, looks to add to the all-time career block assist record that she broke last Saturday, October 27, against Metro State.
Kinzer is currently first all time in school history with 362 and looks to extend that record this weekend. She also has 39 career solo blocks, which lands her third all-time in school history in the rally scoring era (since 2001), needing just one more to tie for first. Kinzer leads the RMAC in block assists per set, and continues to lead the Mountain Lions to second in the RMAC for total team blocks.
The game against Chadron State (4-20, 2-13 RMAC), has been moved up on Friday to begin at 5 p.m. The Mountain Lions lead the all-time series with the Eagles 21-14 after the last win on September 22 of this year. UCCS won that match 3-1(18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-15), and has won the previous 15 matches against the Eagles, dating back to October 2, 2004.
The time for the match on the next night against Black Hills State (9-14, 3-10 RMAC), on Saturday November 3, has been changed to a 3 p.m. start time. The Mountain Lions won the only match against the yellow jackets on September 21 of this year. UCCS won that match 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-16).
