UCCS looks to extend undefeated (10-0) home record this weekend
The Mountain Lions (15-6, 10-3 RMAC) are set to host No. 15 ranked Regis (18-6, 12-2 RMAC), and No. 23 ranked Metro State (14-8, 9-5 RMAC). UCCS is currently 10-0 at home for the first time in history, and has recorded the most wins ever in the Gallogly Events Center. The only season when the Mountain Lions have recorded more wins at home was in 1993, as they finished 12-6 at home.
Senior middle blocker, Nikki Kinzer, is just three block assists away from becoming first all-time in UCCS history. Kinzer is the reigning RMAC player of the month, and was named the RMAC defensive player of the week. This is the third time she has been defensive player of the week this season, and the second week in a row, as she comes off a career performance where she recorded an all-time-high 16 blocks in the match against Colorado Mesa.
In honor of October being breast cancer awareness month, the UCCS volleyball team will stage its annual Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Match on Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Mountain Lions take on Metro State at the Gallogly Events Center. All fans and spectators alike are encouraged to wear the color pink to show their support.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, which was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services.
Come show your support for breast cancer awareness, and for the UCCS volleyball team. The game against No. 15 ranked Regis will be Friday at 7 p.m. and the Dig Pink match against No. 23 ranked Metro State will be at 5 p.m.
