Kinzer Named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the Second Straight Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Nikki Kinzer, the reigning RMAC Player of the Month, was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the week for the second week in a row and the third time this season.

Kinzer finished the weekend with 18 blocks and helped lead UCCS to two victories against Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa and remain undefeated at home with a record of 10-0. Kinzer only had two blocks against Fort Lewis, but had a solid performance the next night as the Mountain Lions defeated the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa.

In the match against Colorado Mesa, Kinzer had a career-high16 total blocks, including seven block assists in the third set. Kinzer also added to theUCCS offensive production with 14 kills against Colorado Mesa for a season-high of 22.5 points.

Kinzer currently ranks second all-time in career block assists at UCCS and needs just three more to become first. She's leading Division II with 1.77 blocks per set and is helping UCCS lead the team statistics with 2.96 per set.

Kinzer and the rest of the Mountain Lions will look to remain perfect at home this weekend with a Friday night match against No. 15 Regis and a late Saturday afternoon match against No. 23 Metro State. Saturday's match will also be the "Dig Pink" breast cancer awareness night for UCCS.
