Mountain Lion Road Trip

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UCCS volleyball team (11-5 / 6-2 RMAC) will be on the road this weekend as it takes a three day, 471-mile trip to Gunnison, Alamosa and Pueblo. On Thursday, the Mountain Lions are set to take on Western State (1-16 / 0-8 RMAC), followed by a match against No. 24 ranked Adams State (13-3 / 6-2 RMAC) and then conclude the trip on Saturday as they take on CSU-Pueblo (11-8 / 2-6 RMAC). 

The Mountain Lions beat each of these opponents in their meeting last year. UCCS has won the last nine matches against Western State dating back to Oct. 29, 2004, and the last seven matches against CSU-Pueblo dating back to Sept. 6, 2006. The Mountain Lions are 2-3 on the road this season, but currently stand second in the East Division of the RMAC.  Senior middle blocker Nikki Kinzer is the reigning RMAC player of the month. For the season, Kinzer leads the RMAC with 1.51 blocks per set and is third in Division II, and she is also leading a blocking effort that ranks seventh in Division II this season. On Oct, 6, Kinzer moved into second all-time at UCCS in block assists with 309. She needs just 42 to become first all-time in program history. Kinzeralso currently ranks third all-time in the rally scoring era, for solo blocks with 35. She trails Brooke Akers (2006-2007), who is second with 41. Lindsey Stich also finds herself atop the UCCS all-time leader board as she is currently ninth all-time at UCCS in assists with 1,364. Stich trails Jessica Bryant (1995-1996) who has 1,414 assists ranking eighth all-time After the Mountain Lions get back from their road trip this weekend, they will look to defend their undefeated home record as they will have a four game home-stand starting on October 18 when they take on Fort Lewis.
