Kinzer Named Defender of the Week

Nikki Kinzer was named the defensive player of the week after an outstanding weekend, which she led the Mountain Lions to victories over Colorado Christian 3-1 (8-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-15), and No. 17 ranked Colorado Mines 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19).

Kinzer averaged 1.43 blocks in each of the Mountain Lions two road wins last week.  On Friday in a 3-1 win at Colorado Christian, she totaled five block assists, eight digs and added 10.5 points. The next night in a 3-0 win at No. 17 Colorado Mines, she tabbed five blocks again, three digs and 13.5 points. On the offensive side, she hit .588 to help the Mountain Lions win in straight sets against #17 Colorado Mines, and finished with 13.5 points with 10 kills, one service aces and five block assists.   In the last match against Colorado Mines, Kinzer recorded her 265th block assist at UCCS which ties her at No. 3 all-time at UCCS.  She needs 41 more to be No. 2 all-time at UCCS
