Kinzer named RMAC offensive player of the week
Nikki Kinzer, a sophomore, middle blocker from Colorado Springs, Colorado was named RMAC offensive player of the week.
Kinzer averaged 4.06 kills per set and 16.25 kills per match to lead UCCS to a 4-0 record at the 2010 Hyatt Place Mountain Lion Invitational. She also had 1.12 blocks per match and bett ered the team hitt ing percentage in every match. She added seven aces
on the weekend. Kinzer faced her younger sister, Jenna Kinzer, for the fi rst time when the Mountain Lions played Fort Lewis in each team's opening match. Her 20 kills in that match was a season-high for herself and the team. She hit a solid .326 for the tournament.
UC-Colorado Springs swept a four-match tournament for the fi rst time since 2001 when they did it twice. The team's 5-3 record is tied for the best season start since opening 2001 at 8-0. Two of those three 5-3 starts have been in Keith Barnett's two seasons as the Mountain Lions' coach.
