Mountain Lions Win Their 4th Straight at Home in a Victory Over the Grand Canyon Lopes
On the strength of .267 hitting the Mountain Lions won their fourth and final match of the Hyatt Place Mountain Lion Invitational against the Grand Canyon Lopes 3-0, securing their position as tournament champions.
The Mountain Lions found themselves facing a stiff front line from the Lopes who managed to put up nine blocks behind Shelby Taylor's six blocks. The Mountain Lions found a way around this, though, managing to put down 48 kills.
Nikki Kinzer led the Mountain Lions with 17 kills. Jenica shippy added seven kills while Danica Lawrence and Sonja Johnson added five each. Erica Ehlo led the Lopes with 11 kills. Defensively Kendall Utz led the Mountain Lions with 24 digs and Nicole Pederson put up four blocks.
The Mountain Lions went 4-0 in the tournament, improving their overall record to 6-3. They next face Fort Lewis College on Thursday the 16th at 7:00 pm in the Gallogly Events Center.
