Akers, Ottino named All-RMAC
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs middle blockers Brooke Akers and Caroline Ottino were named to the 2006 All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, the conference announced Wednesday.
Akers was named to the All-RMAC second team while Ottino was named honorable mention.
Fort Lewisâ€TM Nicole Schwab was named the RMAC Player of the Year while teammate Adrianne Dettler earned RMAC Defensive Specialist of the Year honors. Regis, Chelsea Pavlik was voted the RMAC Freshman of the Year.
From Western New Mexico, the 2006 RMAC regular season champions, came RMAC Setter of the Year in Courtney Heiser and the RMAC Coach of the Year in Jim Callendar.
Head volleyball coaches from each of the 14 institutions voted for the 2006 All-RMAC Volleyball teams. They could not vote for players from their own school. Schwab received the most points, distinguishing her as the RMAC Player of the Year.
Schwab, Kelli Bunger (Nebraska-Kearney), Stacey Vogel (Mesa State), Julie Green (Metro State), and Stephanie Allison (Metro State) were unanimous choices for the 2006 All-RMAC First Team. All five players were listed on every coachâ€TMs ballot.
