Aberle Continues to Lower Time in the 800-Meter Run
GOLDEN, Colo. - Carson Aberle continued to lower his NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run with an altitude and track adjusted time of 1 minutes, 53.86 seconds to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on the second day of the Colorado Mines Twilight Open today.
Aberle finished fourth overall and third among collegiate runners with a raw time of 1:55.59. His adjusted time put him in sixth in the RMAC performance list and No. 13 in Division II. Kyle McCloskey finished one spot behind Aberle with a raw time of 1:58.98 and Matt Winfrey made it three Mountain Lions in the top 10 with his ninth-place finish in 2:01.91.
Travis Whitman finished in second in the 400-meter dash by one-hundredth of a second with 50.37 seconds. His time will adjust down to 49.99 seconds and within two-tenths of a second of a provisional qualifying time. Ryan Buchanan and Marc Hensley finished eighth and ninth overall with times of 52.55 and 53.25, respectively.
Whitman, Buchanan, Hensley and Aberle finished second in the 4x400-meter relay to close out the day with 3:25.57.
Up Next: UCCS will send runners back to Albuquerque, N.M., next weekend for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic Feb. 7-8.
