Payne Wins Age Division at Bolder Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs alumna Shannon Payne finished first in the female 27 group and No. 13 among more than 22,000 women at the 2013 Bolder Boulder presented by crocs. She finished the 10-kilometer race in 37 minutes and 24.66 seconds.

Payne won her division by nearly three minutes against Tasha Wheatley. Payne ran in the first wave of the fastest runners at 7 a.m., and recorded three mile splits under six minutes on the 6.2-mile course.

Payne was a seven-time All-American for the Mountain Lions between cross country and track and field. She still holds the UCCS record for the indoor 5,000-meter run; is second for the outdoor 10,000-meter, 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter runs and indoor 3,000-meter run; and third for the indoor mile run.
