Colvin Earns Spot on RMAC All-Academic First Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - NCAA qualifier Alex Colvin earned a spot on the first team to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on the 2013 RMAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams announced this afternoon. The Mountain Lions had four student-athletes qualify for the conference academic awards.
Sara Kettelkamp, Angie Martell and Madison Neher each earned a spot on the Honor Roll. Student-athletes needed a 3.30 cumulative grade point average in at least two semesters of attendance at UCCS to qualify for the academic teams.
Colvin is the fourth Mountain Lion to earn a spot on the RMAC academic first team for the outdoor season and the first since Lauren Graham in 2011. She was the runner-up in the pole vault at the conference championships and will compete at the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 23 at Colorado State-Pueblo. Colvin has a 3.86 grade point average in human biology and was a UCCS President's List student last fall with a 4.00 semester GPA.
Kettelkamp competed in the 200-meter dash three times for the Mountain Lions during the outdoor season and has a 3.38 GPA in sport conditioning and training. Martell finished third in the 10,000-meter run at the conference championships with a 3.63 GPA in environmental studies and biology. Neher rounded out the all-academic honorees with a 3.75 GPA in nursing after she competed in the 5,000-meter run early in the outdoor season.
