GOLDEN, Colo. - Angie Martell and Alex Colvin both turned in provisional qualifying performances and earned all-conference honors to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at the 2013 RMAC Track and Field Championships  at the Stermole Complex at the Colorado School of Mines.

Alex Colvin recorded a provisional mark in the pole vault to finish as the runner-up in the event to close out the day. She cleared 11 feet, 10 ¾ inches and earned First Team All-RMAC honors for the second straight season.

Colvin was guaranteed to score points for UCCS after she cleared 10-11 on her second attempt of the day. She cleared 11-5 and 11-10 ¾ on her first attempt at each height to guarantee a top three finish. Colvin finished at the same height as Chadron State's Kaelie Jelden, and Colvin earned the second-place finish because Jelden needed three attempts to clear 11-10 ¾.

Martell finished third in the 10,000-meter run with an altitude-adjusted time of 36 minutes, 38.18 seconds and earned a spot on the All-RMAC Second Team. She led a second group of runners throughout most of the race before separating from the group and finished more than a minute ahead of the fourth-place runner.

Martell becomes the second Mountain Lion to run a qualifying mark in the 10,000-meter run this season, after Alyssa Andrews' 35:56.90 at the Mt. SAC Relays. Martell's time ranks sixth in UCCS records.

Sarah Treese finished one spot out of scoring for UCCS in the 10K with an adjusted time of 39:22.63 in her first collegiate 10K on the track.

The Mountain Lions are tied for eighth out of 10 teams after eight events went final today. UCCS will open the final day of the conference championships at 11 a.m., with the long jump.
