COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior student-athletes Mash Shaswar and Megan Burrell were honored as the recipients of the Thomas F. McLaughlin Award at the University's annual Awards Banquet tonight in Berger Hall.

Shaswar became the first men's soccer student-athlete to earn a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America teams and the fourth in school history. He was an Academic All-District and RMAC All-Academic First Team selection this season. His selection to the RMAC All-Academic team was the second in his career.

Shaswar was a Daktronics Second Team and All-RMAC Second Team student-athlete during his senior season and led the Mountain Lions with eight goals, 17 points and three game-winning goals. Burrell was a member of the UCCS Dean's List last fall and named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team during the cross country season. She was also part of the Mountain Lion squad that earned an All-Academic team awards from the coaches association.

Burrell finished the cross country season with All-America honors after a No. 37 finish at the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Championships. She was an all-region student-athlete in both cross country and indoor track and field, and currently holds four UCCS records between the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. Burrell led the Mountain Lions to a No. 10 finish at the national cross country championships for the second-best team finish in program history.
