Urban Wins 800 Run at Front Range Invite
GOLDEN, Colo. - Alexa Urban won the 800-meter run with an altitude-adjusted time of 2 minutes and 18.75 seconds to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track and field team at the Colorado Mines Division II Front Range Invitational today at the Stermole Track and Field Complex. The Mountain Lions finished with seven top-five finishes.
Urban won by .66 seconds against Adams State's Tayler Warren for the fastest time in the RMAC this season. Amber McAfee also finished fourth in the event today for the ninth-best time in the conference.
Jessica Todd finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with an adjusted time of 1:08.42 and ran the fastest time in UCCS history since 2011. Her time ranks fourth in program history and in the RMAC this season.
Angie Martell came within two seconds of a top-five time in UCCS history in the 5,000-meter run with an adjusted time of 18:03.69. She has the fourth-fastest time in the RMAC and led three Mountain Lions in the top four, with Megan Burrell in third and Veronica Sandoval in fourth. Alyssa Wendt, Sarah Treese and Sam Bauer also finished seventh through ninth, respectively.
Todd, Urban, McAfee and Briana Alley ran 4:09.38 to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay.
The Mountain Lions will be back on the track on April 6 for the New Mexico Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
