COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Alan Ford and Jonathan Wright led six University of Colorado Colorado Springs student-athletes on the 2013 RMAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams announced this afternoon. Ford and Wright were both First Team Selections by a vote of the conference sports information directors.

Luke Dakin, Mike English and Ryder Tam were named to the Second Team while Ian Penn was an Honor Roll selection. Student-athletes needed a 3.30 cumulative grade point average in at least two semesters of attendance at UCCS to qualify for the academic teams.

Ford earned All-RMAC honors in the 4x400-meter relay and the 400-meter dash last Tuesday at the RMAC Championships in Golden, Colo. He ran the second-fastest time in UCCS history at the conference championships with 48.84 seconds. Ford carries a 3.57 grade point average in game design and development and was a member of the UCCS President's Honor Roll last fall with a 4.00 semester GPA.

Wright recorded the fastest 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter times for the Mountain Lions this season an earned all-conference honors in the 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. He led an 11-point effort in the 400-meter dash at the conference championships.  Wright has a 3.42 GPA in mechanical engineering and was a Dean's List student in fall 2012.

Dakin scored in the 10,000-meter run at the conference championships as a 3.60 student-athlete in business administration. English ran the fastest 1,500-meter, 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter times for the Mountain Lions in the outdoor season with a 3.43 GPA in business management. Tam ran a season-best time of 4:17.13 in the 1,500-meter run early in the season and earned a 3.94 GPA in mechanical engineering. Penn ran the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races for UCCS in the early half of the outdoor season and was a 3.69 student in finance.

Ford and Wright are the first Mountain Lions to earn a spot on the RMAC All-Academic Outdoor First Team since the academic awards were reformatted into the team format in the 2007-08 season. The five Mountain Lions on either the outdoor first or second teams are also the most in program history.
