Aberle Runs Provisional Time for Fourth Time This Season
GOLDEN, Colo. - Carson Aberle ran a provisional qualifying time for the fourth time this season to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at the Colorado Mines Mother's Day Last Chance Meet today at the Stermole Track and Field Complex.
Aberle finished second overall and first among collegiate runners with 1:52.63. The time will adjust to a sea level time of 1:51.81 and be his fourth under the provisional mark of 1:52.50. He's No. 18 in the national performance lists with an adjusted time of 1:50.88 from the RMAC championships last Tuesday afternoon.
Teammate Kyle McCloskey finished fifth overall and third for collegiate athletes in an adjusted time of 1:53.05. It's the second-fastest adjusted time of the season for him.
Jonathan Wright led five Mountain Lions who finished first through fifth in the 200-meter dash. Wright ran 22.62 seconds against a 1.3 meter/second wind and finished .15 seconds ahead of teammate Marc Hensley in the same heat. Wright also finished fourth in the long jump with 20 feet, 7 ¾ inches in his first long jump in his career.
Andre Young led four Mountain Lions in the 100-meter dash 11.57 seconds against a strong 2.9 meters/second headwind. He placed third among collegiate sprinters and fifth overall in his first 100-meter dash at altitude in a month.
Declarations for the Division II national championships will close at 11 a.m. MDT on Monday. The championship fields will be released by the selection committee no later than 10 a.m. MDT on Tuesday at NCAA.com.
