GOLDEN, Colo. - Carson Aberle set the Stermole Track Complex record with 1 minute, 51.70 seconds in the 800-meter run to win the conference championship to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on the final day of the 2013 RMAC Track and Field Championships.

The Mountain Lions finished seventh in the team standings with 46 points. UCCS had six all-conference performances throughout the last two days of the championships.

Aberle's time will be adjusted down to 1:50.88 for altitude and ranks No. 13 in the NCAA Division II performance lists. His time is two-tenths of a second off of the program record set by Moses Tum in 2005.

Teammate Kyle McCloskey also earned All-RMAC honors with a third-place finish in 1:53.13. His time will adjust down to 1:52.30 for his best run of the season.

Andre Young finished as the conference runner-up for a spot on the All-RMAC First Team with 54.99 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles. His altitude-adjusted time of 55.10 seconds is .06 seconds off of his season best from the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational.

Jonathan Wright led an 11-point effort in the 400-meter dash with a fourth-place finish earlier in the day. Wright finished in 48.61 seconds and fourth in the fast heat, while Alan Ford used a 48.73 time to win the second heat and place fifth overall. Marc Hensley finished fifth in the fast heat and seventh overall with 49.19 seconds.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Wright, Travis Whitman, Hensley and Ford finished as the runner-up in 3:15.35. Hensley moved the Mountain Lions from fourth to second on the third leg with a pass in the second corner and Ford held off Western State for the second-place finish.

The 4x100-meter relay team scored two points to open the final day of the championships with 43.22 seconds and a seventh-place finish. Wright, Whitman, Ford and Young ran the legs for the Mountain Lions.

Oliver Williams led UCCS in the 1,500-meter run earlier in the morning with 4:10.41 and finished seventh in the first heat. Matt Winfrey finished behind him in eighth in the heat with 4:16.35.

The Mountain Lions will be in action on Sunday in the Colorado Mines Last Chance Meet. It will be the final opportunity for UCCS to improve on marks before the national championship field is released next week by the Division II Track and Field Committee.
