Dakin Scores First Points of Championships for UCCS

GOLDEN, Colo. - Luke Dakin recorded the first points for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with his finish in the 10,000-meter run as action got underway at the 2013 RMAC Track and Field Championships at the Stermole Track Complex at Colorado School of Mines.

Dakin finished in eighth with 33:32.94 in his first 10,000-meter run on the track, and ran within six seconds of earning all-conference honors. He ran his fastest lap split of 1:17.74 on the third lap and turned in a 1:18.62 in the final 400 meters.

Sam Feldotto started the 3,000-meter steeplechase, but did not finish because of an injury to his left foot. 

Chris Myers improved his season-best time in the 100-meter dash by nearly two-tenths of a second with an altitude-adjusted 11.85 seconds. He also finished with 24.77 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash.

UCCS will continue action in the final day of the RMAC championships at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with the start of the 4x100-meter relay.
