Davis Leads Mountain Lions at Colorado Invite

BOULDER, Colo. - Anthony Davis finished as the first Division II runner and ran the second-fastest time in the RMAC this season for the 400-meter dash to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at the Colorado Invitational today at CU-Boulder's Potts Field.

Davis ran an adjusted time of 49.87 seconds and finished fourth overall today. His time ranks second in the conference behind teammate Jonathan Wright, who leads with 48.47 seconds from the Division II Front Range Invitational on March 30.

Wright was the top finisher for the Mountain Lions in the 100 and 200-meter dashes today. His time of 11.23 seconds came within .09 seconds of the top five records in UCCS history and unofficially ranked No. 10 in the RMAC. He also ran an adjusted 22.43 seconds in the 200-meter dash for the sixth-fastest time in the conference. Andre Young's 22.71 seconds in the event today puts him in seventh in the RMAC.

Mike English ran the fastest 1,500-meter run of the season for the Mountain Lions with an adjusted time of 3:57.35. It was the second-fastest time in his career and came within a second of his personal best that ranks fifth in UCCS records. Carson Aberle, a provisional qualifier in the 800-meter run, finished one spot behind English in their heat in an adjusted 3:59.73.

The Mountain Lions will split squads next week between meets in California and in Colorado. UCCS student-athletes will compete in the 55th Mt. SAC Relays April 18-20, the Bryan Clay Invitational April 19-20 and the Beach Invitational April 19-20. The Mountain Lions will also send athletes to the Western State Invitational April 19-20 in Gunnison, Colo.
