UCCS Wins Five Events at Front Range Invitational
GOLDEN, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track and field won five events in the first Colorado Mines Division II Front Range Invitational today at the Stermole Track and Field Complex. The Mountain Lions finished with 13 top-five performances in the first outdoor meet to feature a large number of UCCS student-athletes.
Andre Young won the 400-meter hurdles with 55.30 seconds, and the altitude-adjusted time of 55.41 seconds puts him in second in the RMAC this season. It's the second-fastest time in UCCS history behind Ryan Buchanan's 54.68 seconds from last season. Buchanan finished second in today's meet with 56.02 seconds.
Jonathan Wright ran the conference's fastest 400-meter dash this season with an adjusted time of 48.47 seconds to win the event today. Marc Hensley ran 49.85 seconds for the fifth-fastest RMAC time in his fourth-place finish today.
Sam Feldotto won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in his first race in his college career with 9:52.58. He came within a half-second of moving into the top five of program records and won by more than 18 seconds against the next closest runner. His adjusted time of 9:34.45 ranks third in the conference.
Carson Aberle led three Mountain Lions who took the top four spot in the 800-meter run with his adjusted time of 1:54.28. Anthony Davis finished in third with an adjusted time of 1:54.92, while Kyle McCloskey ran an adjusted time of 1:55.24 to finish in fourth.
Wright, Hensley, Alan Ford and Sam Marsh won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:16.18, and have the fastest time in the RMAC with an adjusted time of 3:16.62. The Mountain Lions have a nearly three second against Western State in the conference performance lists, who ran 3:19.48 today.
UCCS will be back in action next Saturday at the New Mexico Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
