SAN FRANCISCO - David Marino lowered his best mark in the 5,000-meter run by nearly eight seconds and Ryder Tam ran in two events to make his collegiate outdoor debut for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track and field team today at the San Francisco Distance Carnival.

Marino ran 16 minutes and 2.10 seconds in the 5,000-meter run and finished No. 17 in his heat today. He lowered his time from the same weekend last year in St. Louis. The mark ranks No. 10 in the RMAC performance lists this season.

Tam competed in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter runs today to open his outdoor track and field career. He finished in 16:26.02 in the same heat at Marino. He also finished in 4:17.13 in the 1,500-meter run to finish No. 12 in his heat.

In the Washington University Invitational, Luke Dakin did not finish the 10,000-meter run as the only Mountain Lion on the men's team in that meet.

The rest of the UCCS student-athletes will compete at the Colorado Mines Division II Front Range Invitational on Saturday at the Stermole Track and Field Complex in Golden, Colo. The first set of events is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
