UCCS Looks to Keep Up Strong Performances in Three Meets Today

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  - After a strong performance in the 10,000-meter run by Alyssa Andrews late last night, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's outdoor track and field team will look to continue running some of the best times in program history at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Western State Invitational today.

Megan Burrell, the defending RMAC Female Track Athlete of the Week and the UCCS record holder in the 1,500-meter run, will compete in the 5,000-meter run at 11:33 p.m. MDT at Mt. SAC. She has the fifth-fastest time in the RMAC this season with 18:21.27 at the Colorado Mines Front Range Invitational in March and will be running with three other conference runners in the heat.

Alexa Urban and Amber McAfee will run in the 800-meter run at 3:25 p.m. MDT in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific. Urban has the third-fastest time in the RMAC this season and set the UCCS record in the event last season in 2:13.89. She will run in the second of seven heats.

McAfee, who has the eighth-fastest time in the conference this season and the fourth-fastest time in UCCS history with 2:20.20 from last season, will run in the sixth heat.
